In general, the bearing cages won’t be broken when working condition is common and reasonable, but in the daily production impertinent operation will reduce life of bearing retainer. Let’s see what reason will cause bearing cage broken.
1, bearing lubrication is poor
Bearing operation in lean state, easy to form adhesive wear, the working surface condition deteriorated, resulting adhesive wear tear was easy to enter the cage, so that the cage produce abnormal loads may cause cage fracture.
2, bearing creep
Multi-finger rings sliding creep phenomenon, and in the case of mating surfaces had insufficient amount of interference, leaving the load point due to the sliding direction to move around, resulting in the phenomenon of the ferrule relative to the shaft or housing the displaced position in the circumferential direction.
3, abnormal loading of bearing retainer
Installation is not in place, tilt, excessive interference and so easy to cause clearance reduction, increased friction and heat, soften the surface, abnormal premature peeling, flaking along with the expansion of foreign matter into the peeling cage pockets, resulting in cage blockade running and generate additional load, exacerbated cage wear, cycling role so deteriorated, it may cause cage fracture.
4, defects of bearing cage material
Cracks, chunks of different metallic inclusions, shrinkage, bubbles and defects riveting missing nails, nail mat or cage halves combination of surface voids, etc. may result in serious injury riveting cage fracture.
5, invasion of hard foreign body
