Self-aligning ball bearing can bear radial load,and also can bear relatively small raxial load.The raxial displacement of shafts or casings is limited within the clearanced, and has a function in self-aligning.It still can work normally under a relatively small inclination between the out-ring and inter-ring.It can be used in supporting the seating hole,but it can not be guaranteed to be used in axial part.
The outer race way of self-aligning ball bearings is spherical, with self-aligning function.So it can automatically adjust the misdirection axes caused by the bending or decentraction of shaft or casing.
There are two kinds of structures of self-aligning bearings, cylindrical bore and conical bore,the materials of cage are steel plate,synthetic resin ,etc.The raceway of outer-ring is spherical with a function in self-aligning,which could make up for the error caused by decentraction degree and deflection degree of shaft,but its inner and outer rings relative inclination should not exceed 3 degrees.
Self-aligning ball bearings has two rows of balls and a common sphered raceway in the outer ring. The bearings are consequently self-aligning and insensitive to shaft deflections and angular misalignment of the shaft relative to the housing. Additionally, self-aligning ball bearings generate less friction than any other type of rolling bearing, which enables them to run cooler even at high speeds.
